2008.03.20. Arashi Discovery <Souvenir for Sis>

国土交通省が外国人観光客から見た「魅力ある日本のおみやげコンテスト2008」を開き、最高賞の金賞に家庭で手軽にせんべいが焼けるという、青森県の「南部せんべい手焼きセット」などが選ばれました。
全国から553品の応募があり、書類選考で絞り込んだ100品を観光関係者や中国、カナダなど12ヶ国の在日大使館関係者が審査し、4つの部門ごとの金、銀、銅賞と大使館関係者による各国賞12品を選んだということです。
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism hosted “The Attractive Japanese Souvenir Contest 2008” viewed from foreign tourists. Chosen for the gold medal winners includes Aomori prefecture’s “Southern Senbei (rice-cracker) Hand-baking Set” with which you can easily make senbeis at home.
100 Items from the total of 533 applications nationwide were selected by document screening. Then tourist authorities and concerned personnel of 12 foreign embassies including China and Canada assessed them to select gold, silver and bronze medals each in four different categories. Each 12embassy personnel also awarded one other item with a special prize representing her country.

あぁー、おみやげね。おみやげ買いますか、皆さんホントに。ねぇ、おみやげって貰ったら嬉しいもんですよね。うん。
僕はね、基本的買いませんから。ええ。まぁ、地方行った時にね、名物をちょろっとね、買ったりしますけどもね。
これは不思議とですね、昔ですけどね、海外に行ったら絶対におみやげ買ってましたね。ってのはね、誰に買うかって、なんか未だに謎なんですけどね、海外に行くとうちのお姉ちゃんにおみやげを殆ど買ってましたね。何でか分かんないですけどね。うん。
昔はなんか海外行ったら、ずーっとおみやげ見たらそれでしたね。とってもとっても優しい弟でした。

Ah, souvenir ne. Really, do you guys buy souvenirs? Ne, isn’t it nice to get souvenirs from someone. Yeah.
I basically don’t buy them, I tell you. Yes. Well, when I go to regions I sometimes buy some famous local products a bit though.
This is a mystery, but in the past, I always bought souvenirs when I went abroad. That is to say, whom did I buy them for is, for reasons still unknown, whenever I went abroad, I always bought souvenirs for my sister. I don’t know why though. Yeah.
In the past, when I went abroad, and looked for souvenirs, it had been always for my sister. I was a very very kind brother.
